Shepherd's Pie Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
1 lb FFF Ground Lamb
1 Diced Onion
4 cloves minced or crushed Garlic
Olive oil/Butter
3 Dashes of Worcestershire sauce
2 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
Parsley
Rosemary
Salt and Pepper to Taste
Mashed Potatoes:
3-5 Potatoes
Sour Cream or Yoghurt
Milk
Butter
Shredded Cheese of your choice
Gravy:
Flour
Water
Drippings from the ground lamb
Optional:
1/2 Cup Frozen Corn
1/2 Cup Frozen Green Peas
DIRECTIONS:
1. Put your olive oil and/or Butter in a pan and sauté your onions. When the onions are soft and aromatic, add in your ground lamb.
2. When the lamb is close to being done, add in the Garlic, spices, Tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce (and optional corn and peas). When done, remove from heat, but save the liquids!
3. Meanwhile boil potatoes to make mashed potatoes. When done, mash and add sour cream or plain yogurt, butter, a little bit of milk, salt and pepper to your liking
4. Set the ground lamb mixture aside. In the same pan with the meat juices, set on low heat and slowly stir in flour and a little bit of water until you get the desired consistency of your gravy.
5. In an oven safe pan, layer meat, potatoes and gravy. Be generous with all, especially the gravy. Top with a shredded cheese of your choice.
6. Bake in the oven until bubbly. Pull out and let set. Serve with your favorite side dishes, and Enjoy!
