Olive Pruning at Our Lady's Ranch

Olive Pruning at Our Lady's Ranch

We planted 300 Olive Trees several years ago, but it could have felt like 3,000 if it weren't for nice and sunny days, along with nice and sunny helpers.
We started with a team approach to each job, then shifted towards age-appropriate tasks as we went along...
I did most of the pruning and trimming with a few different types of shears needed for the variety of limbs and branches.
Joseph and Bryn did the heavy lifting for setting supports and adjusting trees.
Mariana took charge of placing the straw mulch at each base to protect the topsoil and roots around each tree, while holding in moisture.
And Michael re-set the cages which keep the deer from eating all of the leaves.
We all enjoy taking little breaks throughout our workday to feed our bodies, and little breaks throughout the day to feed our souls too.
We also enjoy the fruits of our labor and we just love sharing them with you too!
